Riversdale Primary School provides a happy, stimulating learning environment where every child is valued. We seek to develop the attitudes, skills and knowledge which will help pupils achieve their true potential through praise, encouragement and high expectation of work and behaviour.
Riversdale Primary School’s distinctive building in Merton Road on the edge of the Southfields Grid was opened in 1895, and since then the school has prepared thousands of children of local families for their secondary education and adult life. It has been maintained by Wandsworth Council since 1990.
Riversdale’s facilities include a large playground with a newly-laid all-weather playing surface, and a 10-metre indoor swimming tank and an enclosed outdoor play area for younger children. We have two specialised purpose built play areas, affectionately named Adrians Apparatus, and Lava Land.
The school is only a short distance from King George’s Park and also Southfields Community College, whose excellent sports facilities are regularly used by Riversdale children. We also use their excellent audio visual suite for animation lessons.
Riversdale is a relatively small school of just one form entry, which means that all children in each year’s intake are taught in a single class as they progress up the school. This enables them to bond strongly with each other and with their class teachers, and we have found that this encourages their self-confidence and, as a result, motivates them to learn. At Riversdale we aim to provide a learning environment that is rigorous, supportive and inclusive
